Discipline, work and rigorous studying are very important means to an end. But we sometimes forget how useful it is to let our mind go wild, or rather, actually of out of our mind completely, into our body, and making full use of our senses. Recess! Go outside, do something fun, sign up for a cooking class, go to a museum, talk to a stranger, paint, make music, play with something, do a puzzle, examine some leaves on the ground. Do all the things you would’ve done during recess as a kid.
I call these side quests. Side quests are extremely important for a fulfilling life. They fill up the edges of your life to reach a whole circle, but they also help in your main quest, giving you more energy and motivation even. They also allow you to expand your mind, doing things you otherwise wouldn’t have done and giving your brain some time to make connections between unrelated things.
